Ntep Scale - Assurance Of Quality And DurabilityWe like the products that we buy to deliver a strong performance and also to continue to do so for a long time. Therefore we go to great lengths to evaluate the product so that we can know for sure that the performance will be good and that the product will last. But there is only so much that we can do as an individual while evaluating a product and it does happen from time to time that a product that we buy does not live up to our expectations and we feel that our evaluation was wanting because it did not warn us that the product may not meet our expectations. Of course as an individual one has limitations and we cannot really blame ourselves.
But it does tell us that evaluations are not easy to do and are best done by a competent group of persons with sufficient authority to get information and sufficient budget to have tests conducted. And when such an authority certifies a product we can buy it confidently without getting into elaborate evaluations. One such product is an NTEP scale which stands for National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) and it is a program managed by the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM). It can do what you as an individual cannot. It runs exhaustive tests to make sure that a scale is suitable for commercial transactions and that the business community can trust the weight readings from such scale without verifying them personally.
Since for commercial transactions you may be required by law to use a legal for trade scale the authorities have this certification program that allows people to know which scale has been evaluated and certified by the government. These scales therefore use quality material and components and meet stringent performance criteria. They also need to pass tests that verify that the scale will be able to deliver a quality performance even when a large number of weight measurements are done using it. And those manufacturers whose scales pass these tests can proudly have them certified as NTEP scales. You can see the latest NTEP scales at www.paylessscales.com.
